HELL - A Place of Torment
As we read what the Bible says about hell, a picture emerges of a place of physical, mental, emotional and even spiritual torment. A place where the soul is flooded with unbelievable darkness and despair. This is an horrific picture that needs to be taken seriously.
You will see further down Bible quotes from Jesus who is recorded in the Bible as speaking more about hell and judgement, than heaven!
Why?
Imagine this scene... you're sitting in the comfort of your lounge when someone knocks on the door. You go to the door and the person standing there says they've discovered a safer place for you to live than the house you're in now. They say if you move there life will be better. But why would you move? You're content where you are right now and don't care for the drama of a house move.
You've only just closed the door and there is another knock. You answer to find a distressed neighbour standing there with his cell phone in his hand demanding that you look at the video he has just taken from the the other side of the street to your house. You watch in horror as you see that the back of your house is on fire and is about to consume you. No prizes for guessing what you do next.
Many believe they would go to heaven because of their own goodness. They are sitting in the comfort of their own self righteousness believing they are safe. They need to be warned. It's a simple as that.
The first three quotes are from Luke chapter 16 and the man who went to hell and stayed there.
23 "And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in TORMENTS. . . "
24 ". . . for I am TORMENTED in this FLAME."
28 ". . .PLACE OF TORMENT."
Hell will be beyond anything humanly imaginable!
In the Bible God describes Hell as a real place of real physical, emotional and mental anguish...
weeping (Matthew 8:12),
wailing (Matthew 13:42),
gnashing of teeth (Matthew 13:50),
weeping and gnashing of teeth (Matthew 25:51)
darkness (Matthew 25:30),
flames (Luke 16:24),
burning (Isa 33:14),
torments (Luke 16:23),
everlasting punishment (Matthew 25:46)!
indignation and wrath, tribulation and anguish (Romans 2:8, 9)
Jesus says in Matthew 25:41, "Depart from me, ye cursed, into EVERLASTING FIRE, prepared for the devil and his angels."
