Heaven
The Choice is Yours
No More Suffering
One of the things that marks this life is that while there are many good things to enjoy and be thankful for, it is a life that involves suffering and death. Sometimes this is through "natural" causes, other times through war, famine or criminal acts.
Often those who suffer are innocent such as the victims of a drunk driver. Sometimes suffering is self inflicted. We all know people who have suffered and we have all had our share of suffering. You might say, "I've had more than my share of suffering."
But a time is coming when those who put their trust in Jesus Christ to save them from the consequences of their sin, will experience suffering no more!
There will be no suffering in heaven. It will be the exact opposite to hell!
In the last book of the Bible (Revelation) we read these words as they describe the experience of those who receive eternal life in heaven,
"And God will wipe away all tears from their eyes. And there will be no more death, nor mourning, nor crying out, nor will there be any more pain; for the first things passed away" [Revelation 21:4]
for the Lamb in the center of the throne shall be their shepherd, and shall guide them to springs of the water of life; and God shall wipe every tear from their eyes." (Revelation 7:17).
No More Death
Death is an enemy and it comes because of the curse of sin but through the death of Jesus for our sins and through his glorious resurrection, death has been defeated. Consider what the Bible says...
"When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: "Death has been swallowed up in victory." "Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?" (1 Corinthians 15:54-55).
Jesus has conquered the power of death having suffered in our place and suffered death himself...
Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil—and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death (Hebrews 2:14-15).
To all who put their hope in Christ, Jesus death brings personal victory over the power of death.
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?" (John 11:25-26).
